About The Lowrider Special Through-Body Model
The Lowrider Special offers a new approach to the traditional through-body guitar design. This one-piece neck is removable and replaceable. It is bolted in 4 places - 2 behind the neck pickup, and 2 at the rear of t2he instrument (under the ebony tailpiece). This method of through-body neck connection to the body of the guitar not only offers a rigid and secure "marriage" of neck and body, it also guarantees perfect alignment of the strings above the fretboard. Because the neck and top plate of the guitar are essentially a unit independent of the hollow body cavity, the pickups "hear" the qualities that are inherent in an acoustic instrument. The body is constructed much like an acoustic guitar. That is, the sides are thin (.120") heat bent. Unlike a typical acoustic guitar, the body's top and back are much thicker (approx. 1/4"). Unique to this design, the fretboard sits flush to the body. Naturally, the strings sit much closer to the surface of the instrument body than in other guitar designs. As well, the pickups and bridge are deeply recessed in the through-neck.
